I am working as a design intern at NYPIRG and Stephen Brinson is my supervisor who oversees my work and provides guidance on projects.
I found out about this internship opportunity through the Communication Design Internship Coordination Site on OpenLab. After seeing the posting I reached out to Stephen via email expressing my interest in the position. He responded by confirming the availability of the internship and scheduling an interview via Google Meet.
During the interview, Stephen asked me some general questions about my studies and major. He also provided information about NYPIRG and the important issues the organization is fighting for. Stephen then inquired about my preferences regarding which issues I would like to work on. I expressed my interest in Higher Education, Healthcare, and the MTA.
Following the interview, Stephen offered me the position and later appointed me as the project leader for the healthcare campaign. In this role, I am responsible to advocate for the end of medical debt and affordable healthcare for all New Yorkers.
