welcome to my ePortfolio!
Since early age, my desire was to help the community but I was unaware of how to do it. At a young age, I volunteered in Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Israel at a geriatric facility. I helped patients to walk, eat, exercise and read. It was a nice and rewarding experience to see how people smile back at you when you help them with their needs and give them basic fundamental necessities. It was challenging at times but it was totally worth it. While volunteering, I noticed the dedication of the nurses and doctors while they were doing their jobs caring for others and it helped me realize that I would like to become a professional health care provider.
When I immigrated to the U.S. in 2004, I worked as a dental assistant. When I stared working there, I felt as if I was introduced to a different world. The dentist at the facility suggested that I become a professional hygienist and expand my working career. By doing so, not only I will be progressing my college career and education but also be helping a community as I desired at a young age. That’s how I decided to become a dental hygienist.
The past two years of college flew by quickly and that we are finally here approaching our graduation. The intense educational program has allowed me to improve my daily routine as an individual and as a dental hygiene professional. The past two years have taught me to manage different patients and working with colleagues of different backgrounds. The faculty at NYCCT inspired us to become better caregivers, professionals and educators because preventive care is the best education and method we can teach patients to avoid the onset of any concerns.
