“As Marijuana Popularity Grows So Do Its Harms” by Megan Twohey is about the growth of marijuana. Throughout the article she discusses the popularity of marijuana within the ages of 18-25 year olds. She uses facts to support her claim of the growth in marijuana. In addition she also discusses that due to the growth of marijuana it’s having more of a negative impact on people’s lives. People are getting  what is known as cannabis use disorder. Throughout the years the use of marijuana has grown tremendously. Twohey estimated that 18 million Americans have cannabis use disorder due to their addiction to marijuana. Further into the podcast she brings a guest Jennifer Macaluso to discuss how marijuana has had a negative impact on her life. After using marijuana due to health issues she started getting stomach aches and began to experience nausea. Twohey used her as an example to show what marijuana can actually do to people. To conclude, Megan discusses the effect marijuana can have on young brains and states that doctors and health officials should do more to keep track of the health effects of marijuana. She also states that health officials should inform marijuana users of the risk they are taking when using marijuana.

Twohey uses the appeal of logos by referring to different scientists and recent studies. She uses a logical tone. Megan Twohey is credible because she’s an investigative reporter for the New York Times. New York Times is a reliable source because they have an overall rating of 3.8 out of 5 based on 978 reviews left anonymously by employees. The New York Times publishes informative articles without being biased. They have trustworthy and great employees as well.
