Rab proposal paragraph—Brianna M

My research question is: What does cancel culture do to teens? I am interested in this topic because I have witnessed my close friend get canceled breaking the friend group apart making one feel lonely and trapped thinking that their thoughts/opinions doesn’t matter. I study cancel culture a lot on social media platforms I have never thought it would happen to one of my closet friends. I see people constantly being silenced for having opinions in politics or their cultural beliefs. People with regular jobs/students are unlinking from celebrities, famous people, friends and companies which only makes others feel trapped and alone. I’m also interested in cancel culture because cancel culture has been increasing rapidly through out the years and it isn’t benefiting people in any way it’s only having a negative effect on one’s mental health. I’ve seen my friends, celebrities and famous brands get cancelled for speaking out and having their own opinion on things whether it’s in a negative or positive manner causing social and emotional consequences.

Also, I’m interested in understanding how teen’s mental health is affected by cancel culture.

Some points that I plan to explore and dig deeper into cancel culture and how it affects people’s personal life/ how it affects the way they live, The reasoning behind cancel culture, and How cancel culture has an effect to teen’s mental health.
