Research Question: How do single-parent households affect child development?
The message I would like to teach my audience is that raising a child alone is hard and scary, but not impossible. I want the audience to know that they can successfully raise a happy and thriving child if they have faith, and they give it their best shot. The audience that I am targeting are single parents, more specifically, single mothers. The genre I am considering is a video interview. I chose it because I feel like people can better understand the topic from people who are actively going through the situation at hand. My plan is to ask my mom groups to help with the interviews since some of them are single parents. I would like to write down some questions for them to answer so that they can prepare themselves. I would also like to try and get my Sociology professor to also do an interview, but from a socioeconomic point of view. I am worried that I may not get anyone to want to do an interview. I know that being a single parent can be a sore topic for some people. I will be using the Reflections on Love and Family (From Story Corps on NPR)
