Project Proposal-Christi Chan

My research question is why do people procrastinate? In my project, I will be presenting information about how procrastination is not as bad as people portray it to be. It helps you perform better quality work. I am considering doing a video essay. It can be very informative and be interesting for viewers with the visuals and voiceovers. I want to reach out to the people who think procrastination is a bad habit or a curse. I intend to get started by trying to make it entertaining like maybe a little skit of a person struggling with procrastination in the beginning to grab the viewer’s attention.  Following the video essay, I plan to show that celebrities that are successful also tend to procrastinate while it was mentioned in the opinion piece, proving that procrastinators are more creative than the people who don’t procrastinate? The concerns I have is to just make it fun and to keep the viewer’s attention. I want people to learn from me as if I was a source for research. The mentor text I will be using is The Satirical Resurgence of Reefer Madness by Yhara Zayd. I like it’s structure and how she started off with a background story of the american girl then went off with information about the history of her topic.

  1. As a serial procrastinator i’m extremely interested in this project. I’d like to know maybe the science behind why we do it, and effective ways to break that bad habit. Hopefully this will help
