In the article, “Schools are Killing Curiosity”, Wendy Berliner states that schools suppress our natural curiosity, with proof from various research papers. Berliner refers to studies that focus on grades, and even states that focus seems to be more important than curiosity when comparing grades. The Ilminster Avenue Nursery School study presented that preschoolers were given new toys to become more curious, and that their imaginations were infinite. The writer concludes with a statement that shows that where students are encouraged to be more curious through a more fostering education, educators can help bring back the curiosity they might have lost for learning.
