In the article “Schools Kill Curiosity” the author goes in depth and talks about the way schools eliminates the curiosity factor in children when they are young and how it leads to kids to be quiet and scared when questions are asked, even when they grow up. Research from Susan Engel showed that “She found the youngest children in an American suburban elementary school asked between two and five questions in a two hour period. Even worse, as they got older the children gave up asking altogether.” This is because the teachers, teachers are the main influence on children in schools so when they say not to do something countless times they learn to just never do it again after a point because they don’t want to get in trouble. Teachers actually made students think that being curious was a risk towards their results instead of a method of growth for it. But the author doesn’t only show how the students results of those who were shut down but showed the ones who were able to ask and receive answers. Those students actually deeply understood the topic and was able to move forward in their academic journey.
