Introduction — Amit

My name is Amit Darmalingum, and I am an Electrical Engineering major. I was born and raised in New York, but both my parents are from Guyana. My hobbies include listening to music, playing basketball, learning about cars, and playing video games. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be an engineer, but I wasn’t sure which field. It wasn’t until I attended high school at CTEA in Queens that I discovered my passion for electrical engineering. During my sophomore year, I focused on electrical engineering in my engineering program, and it was there that I truly found my passion. I also explored this field a bit in my senior year, which gave me a glimpse of what working in the real world would be like. 

I love taking pictures of random things, mostly the sky and other aesthetic scenes. I have one pet, a turtle—a yellow-bellied slider. I didn’t buy the turtle; it was a gift. I didn’t choose the name; the previous owner did, so I kept the name Forest. I’ve always had a thing for turtles since I was a little boy, so having one as a pet has been a dream come true. I’m not really into watching movies; I prefer TV shows. I’m watching White Collar, which is about a guy convicted of bond forgery and several other crimes. He makes a deal with the FBI to help them solve cases while serving his time with an ankle monitor. Throughout the show, he faces many challenges in his personal life while trying to keep them hidden from the FBI. The show has 6 seasons, and I’m on Season 4, about to start Season
