My name is Lidia McGarry. Two years ago I decided to make a career choice and here I am graduating the Dental Hygiene Program at NYCCT!

Two years sounds long, and when I first started it felt like forever. But here I am today about to graduate next week and it has truly been a roller coaster experience. From learning our instruments, correct ergonomics, and that FULCRUM! Only students in this program will understand that one.

I really have learned to not only love but respect my new chosen profession! People think dental hygienist=cleans teeth for a living but we do so much more. I can summarize what Im going to do for a living in a few words: ” I’M A floss threading, pocket probing, root planning, enamel scaling, periodontal preventing, biofilm removing, oral cancer checking, prevention specializing, life saving, DENTAL HYGIENIST… oh yeah … And I “clean teeth”
