Change is a part of life; and there is almost no change as influential on a personā€™s life as moving to a new country. I experienced this first hand when I moved from a small town in Haiti to the bustling metropolis of New York City, where I learned first hand the meaning of what is commonly known as ā€œCulture Shockā€. Culture Shock is defined by The American Heritage Dictionary as ā€œa sense of confusion and uncertainty sometimes with feelings of anxiety that may affect people exposed to an alien culture or environment without adequate preparationā€. Although I have adjusted quite well in time to living in New York, I experienced all of the confusion and uncertainty described in this definition when I first arrived.
