My name is Liza Bauzo-Nieves and I am a Registered Professional Nurse. I received my associate degree at New York City College of Technology and I am completing my Baccalaureate in Nursing this semester. While attending college with interests in broadcasting and music education, I spent over ten years on the administrative end of the healthcare field. Witnessing the labor and delivery of my niece and daughter, I began to visualize my dream profession – nursing. This was a life-changing experience. I want to help children to start their journey with the proper guidance and love they deserve. It became clear that the best way to combine my passion with healthcare, education, and communication was to become a nurse. Being a naturally nurturing and hard-working person, I found labor and delivery nursing to be a wonderful occupation. Not only do these nurses care for and support mother and child, but they are knowledgeable, and have the ability to “think on their toes”. Now I see all nursing positions as valuable and essential. The best aspect of this career is the ability to care for others, and to grow both professionally and personally. Nursing is a field worthy of respect.
