Thanks for your hard work today! I hope that our exercise empowers you to engage with your reading + blog assignment over the weekend.
As promised, below is the homework for Monday, 2/8. As noted on the syllabus, in total, you should be prepared to spend about 3-4 hours on out of class prep time.
-Read and annotate Terry McMillan, “The Movie that Changed My Life”– Post annotated copy of any 2 pages of McMillan’s essay to the appropriate Dropbox by beginning of class Monday.–Blog post 1: Write a SuperShortSummary of both Alexie’s and McMillan’s essays (2-3 sentences each). Include descriptions of how the Superman comic or The Wizard of Oz primarily changed their lives, as well as any biographical details a reader might need to know. Then, in a separate paragraph, describe one important similarity and one important contrast between the two authors. 200-250 words.
You can access the blog by going to Posts—>Add New. Paste your blog entry directly into the box and submit. Do not upload the blog as an attachment.
-Bring McMillan, Alexie, and the Writing To the Point Excerpt 1 (all under Readings) to Monday’s class
