The sound of babes crying the Saucony ad is much more subdued compared the the French Supermarket ad. The duration is shorter, and is toned down by the soothing narrative of the woman doing the voiceover.  It is effective in showing a more candid, unpleasant side to motherhood but still makes it palatable for the viewer.

Compared to many other Mother’s Day commercials, the Saucony ad has a more realistic portrayal of motherhood mainly by drawing a parallel that it’s like a never ending marathon and isn’t always a positive experience full of sunshine and rainbows.

This commercial is effective in my opinion because it effectively taps into the experience of what motherhood is actually like and it does not feel disingenuous in its message.
