Course Description/ Overview:
This course covers modern inventory control systems and sales records, including the retail method of inventory, operating statements, planning techniques, and mark-up, markdown, open-to-buy, and terms of sales calculations. Mathematical concepts, techniques and analysis fundamental to the buying and planning process are introduced using mathematical problems and interactive learning techniques. Successfully completing this course will teach students how retailers maximize profits, plan sales and inventory, minimize markdowns and avoid stock outs. Additionally, financial operations of retail merchandising will be explained and students will apply these principles in basic computer-simulated case situations.
