This Assignment gives a few examples of my work with Typography where I choose a Quote and use words to make a design. I chose the quote “Nothing more than Dust in the Wind” by the Band Kansas yet I chose to give credit of this quote to Siamat<Lord of the South Wind> from World of Warcraft. The reason I did this was because although the concept of the quote was indirectly used in the song Dust in the Wind by Kansas The quote was directly used by the World of Warcraft boss as he demonstrates how we are nothing more than dust in his endless winds.
I was inspired to do this Visual quote design based on the quote “Nothing more than dust in the winds” by Siamat. This specific one is the first phrase of the word which was “Nothing more than dust in the” in a small seriffed font this was to represent the small insignificants of nothing greater than dust. The end piece which was the word Wind i decided to used a all cap san serif font to represent to uncontrolable and untamed power of the wind and how those within it end up lost. I was inspired to do this quote from playing World of Warcraft an onling game. The boss that uses this quote clearly demonstrates how he values our lives as nothing more than just dust eaisly swept up and thrown away.
This Piece was inspired by the concept of a hurricane. The hurricane is created by the collage of the word Wind which like a real hurricane has no real direction but merely rocks back and forth unable to contain itself. If you look closely you can see small letters inside which are the letters of the quote rocking back and worth with the wind since they are unable to to get free of that wich surrounds them. I was inspired to make this due to My experience in the game World of Warcraft. The boss captures the players in a tornado and it makes us feel helpless as we are unable to move.
This quote is a modified version of the file Wind2. I decided that I wanted to give the word Wind more of a transparent feel to it. This was because when I began to think of the concept of wind I truly understood that by making it green it just seemed more like an aura rather than an undying force. I also decided to give the black background to have a good contrast of the now transparent wind and finally I decided to increase the wind from the file wind2 because I wanted to make it feel as though the wind is truly surrounding the dust.
