Purpose of portfolio
This professional portfolio was constructed to showcase the work completed as I withheld my position as a Career and Technical Education Candidate at the New York City College of Technology. After taking and passing a number of courses at the college, I collected numerous pieces of work over the past few years to showcase my improvement. This portfolio will walk you through my abilities to be an influential and professional CTE Educator.
Relationship of artifacts to purpose
Hard work and dedication has been put into creating the sample lesson plan(s), unit plan(s) and content from the experience I’ve had during my internships and student teaching. The essays that I have included reflects my experience throughout my internship as well as evaluations from my professors.
Personal reflection on your experience as a teacher candidate
During my time as a Career and Technical Education Candidate, my specialty area being cosmetology left room for lots of creativity and fun. The school placements exposed me to different cultures and people who changed my experiences for the better. Being able to incorporate the things I’ve learned at my internships in the classroom, made my journey a lot smoother and relatable because it kept me up to date with trends and fashions. The experiences brought a positive impact to my presentation, confidence levels were risen, I saw fluency in my lessons as well as my ability.
The EDU courses I’ve taken provided me with the platform to be able to take what I’ve learned in the industry, break it down and rebuild it into curriculums, units and delivery for lessons.
