Jaclyn Valentin holds a B.S. in Professional and Technical Writing with a specialization in Biology at CUNY New York City College of Technology.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she is a first-generation college graduate of Puerto Rican U.S. Army Veteran parents. As an inducted member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and a member of the Black Male Initiative, she has used her skills to provide English tutoring for all City Tech students. She holds a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from the International TEFL Academy in Chicago, Illinois. She is currently the Lead Social Media Marketer and Communications Specialist for the Student Success Center at City Tech. She has been a copywriter for CRE8R Inc., an online art rental company representing multiple local artists in the tri-state area and for Caress Crystals LLC, an online crystal boutique. She has recently published two of her essays “Mama” and “Facebook’s Influence on Language and Communication” for City Tech Writer, Volume 15 (2020). She has been recognized for academic achievement on the Dean’s list for the 2018 and 2019 school year. She enjoys listening to various forms of music, cycling, visiting art museums, providing English tutoring, and traveling around NYC to enjoy different foods. Valentin plans to continue her education to become an English professor.
