I participated in 60 hours of clinical work at Flushing Queens Medical Center. The opportunity was only granted to 3 students from the graduating class of 2016. I was honored to be chosen. The internship provided me the opportunity to see a variety of cases I would not typically see at our school clinic. I performed the following task:
- SRP and prophylaxis
- administration of local anesthesia
- Team analysis of case
- Observed surgical procedures
I believe it helped me to grow as clinician in the following areas:
- time management
- proper review of medical history.
- independent decision making and treatment planning
- patient management
I aided in the diagnosis and referral of several patients, as well as learned many new things from the residents. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience.
