Self-Analysis

During my completion of the BSN program at New York City College of Technology I have learned many valuable skills.   I received essential training in key areas like communication, leadership and critical thinking.  Critical thinking skills are important for patient safety. When these abilities are well developed, a registered nurse can assess a patient’s condition correctly and decide what action to take.  This program definitely made me culturally aware.  Diversity is important for nurses because we work with patients from varied backgrounds in many different environments such as hospitals, nursing facilities and patients’ homes.   My written and oral skills have improved which is essential to keep records, communicate with patients and other health professionals.  This program has also given me a broader experience not only in hospitals but as well as community health centers.

Since the delivery of health care is complex and continuously changing, BSN programs are becoming more and more valuable for enhanced knowledge. This has made me more ambitious to continue my education to learn as much as possible.
