In the poem “Alone” by Edgar Allan Poe, I believe that the purpose of the poem was to show the audience the different way Poe sees the world from the average person because of experiences. He introduces the poem by saying many phrases that show the difference in perspective with things like “As others were; I have not seen”. Later on he compares the many obstacle with red cliffs, or thunder passing him by. The poem ended with the phrase “(When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view.”, which means that the “average person” can’t notice him because of the difference in perspective and because of this he is going down a dark path in his life.
