Role Model

A good role model can make your career path and future career planning have a clear goal and ideal. When I first met design, the first excellent designer I came into contact with was named John McWade.

John McWade is a graphic designer, instructor, speaker and, sometimes, a consultant. In 1990 he founded Before & After magazine to teach graphic design to desktop publishers. Before & After became known for its simple beauty, clarity of instruction, and especially its emphasis on design not as decoration but an essential form of communication.

I first saw his videos explaining how to design good logos and covers. Even people who have never been in touch with design can understand the content of his design videos, which I think is something an excellent designer can do.

Simplify the complex, it was also he who taught me many ideas and methods about design, so that I could become better and improve myself.

He often explains some complex things in the simplest way, so that everyone can easily understand the beauty of the design. He also shows how design can be fun and not boring. His earliest videos are how to help designers modify and make suggestions in design, using many examples and design works to analyze.

Whether it is typography, cover design, logos, business cards or book typography, he can perfectly explain what a good designer will think. So, this is my ideal of what a good designer should be.
