Some of the coursework and assignments that prepared me to work with the children population would have to be internship. Internship because it gives you a different perspective of what approaches or strategies can be implemented. And it gives you a better idea of which methods would be beneficial to those clients you serve. Some assignments can be service plans and psychosocial. The service plan more deals with the goal setting of clients. And the psychosocial actually goes in to the client’s backgrounds and family members. It’s more to determine why the client is acting out. Also Case Management help to see why the client needs a specific service there requesting and also to monitor the client. Also Community Organization class prepared us for advocating. Another thing it helps us to become engaged with the community boards by attending meetings. I was definitely able to obtain a variety of skills whether it was communicating with clients, providing services, and advocating for their needs.
