Service learning project

I was part of a team that presented at Joy Learning Garden in Queens. Most of the children from the Joy Learning Garden were from Fujian, China; We choose to target Chinese immigrant children because many studies have shown that oral hygiene information is very limited in China, particularly in rural areas. Our main focus was to provide young children with oral health education,  nutrition and encourage young children to develop healthy oral habits.

Tzu Chi Foundation

I was part of a dental team from Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation. Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian organization and a non-governmental organization (NGO) to provide quality medical and dental services to low incomes residents regardless of their age, gender, race or religion.  I was able to utilize my hygiene knowledge to provide dental hygiene education. In the future, I will continue to work with this foundation to help more people.

Head start Varnish program  

 On May 6th, 2016 my classmate and I provided a free dental check up and free fluoride varnish to the children in Brooklyn.
