My name is Janel Franklin, I was born in Brooklyn, NY but I am of Panamanian and Trinidadian decent. I am a Human Service major at the New York City College of Technology, I am expected to graduate with my Associates Degree in May of 2013 and will continue on for my Bachelors Degree. Very recently the professor of my African American studies class encouraged me to follow my long life dream of running for Mayor before or by the age of 50. I am in the middle of writing my essay to get accepted into Columbia University’s pre law program. I feel blessed to have someone like him to re inspire to follow my dream, no matter how “out-of-reach.” I am not quite sure if there’s a specific population I want to work with in the mean while, however I know that after several years of experience in the field, I want to work on the laws affecting these clients and hopefully change them for the good before I run for Mayor of NYC!
