Working at a dental office for over 5 years, I have learned a handful. Here’s a list of just a few skills I have developed over the years.
- Preparing patients for dental procedures by making them comfortable and providing any instructions
- Questioning patients about their medical history and recording the information for dentist’s reference
- Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment, and placing for easy access
- Prepare the dental exam room for use by the dentists
- Assisting the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments and getting supplies
- Expose dental radiographs on patients
- Scheduling appointments
- Keeping and updating patient records
- Answering phone and making phone calls in a friendly manner
- Verifying, confirming, and updating patient’s insurances
