Supervised daily dental clinic operations including, but not limited to sterilization, infection control and equipment maintenance
Knowledge and usage of dental terminology, dental instruments, tray set-ups and instrument sharpening
Take, develop and mount diagnostically acceptable radiographs
Take digital radiographs using Gendex and Kodak sensors (including using Kodak Imaging software) including Panoramic and Cephalometric radiographs
Knowledgeable about operative procedures in general, pediatric and periodontal dentistry.
Chart- including graphical charting, periodontal charting and proper chart documentation
Manual dexterity and proficiency in four-handed dentistry
Extra-oral/ Intra-oral cancer screening
Effective communication of oral hygiene instructions and proper dispensing of oral hygiene aids
Scaling and Root planning using both/ either hand and ultrasonic scaling
Airpolishing
Proficient skills in dental prophylaxis and proper use of equipment
Dispensing of Fluoride materials, (neutral and acidulated), including the use of either trays or varnish
Usage and placement of rubber dam for isolation
Application of dental sealants using both light-curing and self-curing materials (ex. Fuji Triage). Sealants can be placed using rubber dam or cotton rolls
Arestin placement and evaluation
Use of topical anesthetics, Oraqix, and local anesthesia
Knowledgeable and certified in nitrous oxide sedation
Mixing and taking alginate impressions, pouring up and trimming models
Making bleaching trays and orthodontic Essix trays
Mixing temporary materials including but not limited to: Z.O.E., I.R.M. , and Fleck’s cement
Mixing and placement of COE-PAK periodontal dressing
Knowledgeable in behavior management of pediatric patients including those with developmental disabilities
