Course Description

This online course will provide an opportunity for City Tech faculty from all disciplines to learn more about information literacy.

Course Structure

Asynchronous. Required and Optional Readings. Multimedia content. Reflection questions. Online discussion. Independent work. Sharing and Feedback.

Learning Outcomes

  • Faculty will learn the definition, basic concepts, and importance of information literacy.
  • Faculty will be able to identify what information literacy concepts are the most important to their course content.
  • Faculty will explore practical ideas for applying one or more information literacy frames to their course content.
  • Faculty will design or redesign an assignment that teaches students at least one information literacy skill alongside course content.

Final Project

The assignment can be new or recycled and reworked to include one or more information literacy skills. Faculty will post their assignments on the course Open Lab site for review, stating which information literacy objectives are addressed. Faculty will receive feedback from other participants and workshop facilitators. The assignment should address one or more of the information literacy objectives introduced in the workshop.
