Hello! My name is Ivy Lin. I am 22 years old and I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I am currently on the path to becoming a registered dental hygienist. I am a second year student in the NYCCT Dental Hygiene program which means that I will be graduating in June 2020!
I first expressed interest in dentistry when I had braces from 2010-2013. I was 12 at the time and had just started middle school. I needed braces due to the crowding of my upper anteriors from a mesiodens between my central incisors. The crowding was so bad that from elementary to middle school, I was extremely self conscious of my smile and I’d always cover my mouth when I laughed. I loved my braces because I realized that it actually distracts others from looking at how bad my teeth really were. Fast forward to when I finally got my braces removed – I could not believe how beautiful and straight my teeth were! I became super invested in my teeth and wanted to keep them clean and white all the time. I loved being able to smile freely without the habit of covering my mouth! Being in dental hygiene allows me to not only understand my own dental anomaly but also teach others too.
Get to know me and what I have done in this program through this portfolio! Enjoy and thank you for reading.
