As a class we went to screen young children in a head start preschool. We evaluated the children for early childhood caries, and previous history of restorations. We also applied  5% sodium fluoride varnish on their teeth with their parental consent.  If the child did have evidence of caries in need of treatment we notified the parents that their child needs care. This program is so important because many children do not have access to care or exposure to a dental environment. The professional fluoride application helps to remineralized their enamel and keep their teeth strong.
