The shop opens at 12pm but I walked in at 12:30pm. I wasn’t late though. I know, it doesn’t make sense. I was clearly told by Bert to come in 30 minutes after opening because HE’S always running late. For my first day I designed banner for an upcoming reading that Bert’s wife,Lynne, is going to host. She runs Lost Lit, a creative writing workshop in Brooklyn. I was provided with the image only. Everything else was designed by me. What i wanted to do for this banner was make it really fun and “ice creamish” The Ice cream cone vector was designed by me and the font was downloaded from Font Squirrel. I felt like the font would go well with the clip art and it did. The colors were inspired by mocha ice cream, which I’m a very big fan of. Lynne fell in love with the banner and decided to add a couple more pieces to this project. Now that the “feel” of this banner was set I would apply the same template, fonts, and illustration to the rest.
