Final Argument Essays due on Tuesday, December 1
Our final argument essays will be due on Tuesday, December 1.
For your essay, you will need to revisit and revise your polished draft. Your final paper should be 5-6 pages* and include a minimum of five pieces of research (including one source in support of a counterpoint, and one source that was published in the last four months). It is strongly recommended that you bolster your argument by citing research that was not included in your original draft.
Part of your grade will be determined by how well you respond to the constructive feedback you were given. As such, along with your final paper, please turn in your original draft, as well as the notes you were given by both your peer-editor and me. Failure to turn in all requested paperwork will result in an automatic loss of a letter grade.
Despite the holiday, I will do my best to reply to incoming messages within 24 hours, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.
*Please note: your paper itself should be 5-6 pages – your Works Cited page will lengthen your overall piece to 6-7 pages.
Argument Essays (round 1) due on Tuesday, November 17
This is just a reminder that argument essays (which will account for 10% of your overall course grade) are due on Tuesday, November 17. Remember that, on Tuesday, you will turn in two copies of your essay, which will facilitate both a peer-review and my being able to read and respond to your work.
I strongly encourage folks to take their papers to the Atrium Learning Center, and please don’t hesitate to email me* with any questions!
*Remember that I do my best to reply to incoming messages within 24 hours; please plan accordingly, knowing that essays are due at 8:00 am on Tuesday.
Readings for Tuesday, Nov. 3
Ack! It’s come to my attention that the third edition of our textbook does not contain “The Gospel of Wealth” or “How the Other Half Lives.” Please find scanned copies of the readings below. Copies will be provided in class as well.

Take a look around and familiarize yourself with the page — feel free, too, to make suggestions if you see opportunities for our site to be even more helpful.
Fall 2015!
Writing, in its earliest stage, is best considered a work in progress. This site is no exception. Here is to a great fall 2015 semester, and a OpenLab site that is poised to grow more robust and, in turn, more helpful.
