About me.

Hi everyone, my name is Hosna Ara. I came to New York as a Dental Professional. To pursue my dream to work in America, I had to take many steps. One of them is to get a license. Before I start the next step of my journey, let me tell you a story. Did you know that my tooth number 29 is missing? I can’t remember the age, but I was probably 10 years old. Even though it was so long ago I still remember the unbearable pain. My Dad took me to the dentist, where it smells of the oil of cloves everywhere, and even now that smell reminds me of that time. My beloved father was a military officer and a freedom fighter. He knew how to save our country but couldn’t save his daughter’s teeth. I’m not blaming my dad, it was my society. Where I come from people can’t afford to care for more than their basic needs, so dental care would be a lesser priority.

My journey began then and I decided to become a Dental Professional so I could help my society and my community. I did work in my country and I was able to fulfill my dream there. But when moved to New York, it was a completely different environment for me. Every time I looked back I felt like a big piece of mine was missing. So after 10 years I came back again and rescued myself. I started my journey to become a prideful dental hygienist- this is where my passion belongs.

If I don’t write down a few lines about my husband then it would be an incomplete ‘About Me’. He was my great inspiration, my right hand man. Whenever I got stuck he was there for me. He was my 1st patient in DEN 1100 and 1st heavy patient in DEN 1200 and then a light patient in DEN 2300 and DEN 2400.( I think I’m successful).
