Project 1
For this project we had to use plaster and bass wood to represent a topic of our choice. The plaster was for the subtractive method and the bass wood was for the additive. The topic I chose was string theory. The 5 models represent the idea of separate dimensions (as combined bubbles of plaster), the impact of those dimensions on us (as string like scars in plaster), forces passing through dimensions (plaster breaking through bass wood and bass wood strings extruding from cube), and impact of dimensions colliding together (collapsed and broken bass wood cube).
Project 2
This project was based off the Mobius House in the Netherlands by UNstudios. I took the floor plans of the building and used its shapes to show the function of the building. The building has a layout with overlapping paths that mix the everyday life activities of Living, working, and sleeping. Each piece of the model has different functions that cross over or passes under each other.
Project 3
For this project we had to contract a model to be used in the house we were assigned. The Möbuis House has many windows and get plenty of sun light so i chose to design a sculpture to interact with the light. My model is made by taking geometrical shapes out of three sheets of glass in order to let the sun enter through the voids or pass through the different colored glass. The panels also slide to alter the way the sun passes through. When the sun passes the through the model it creates a light on the floor acting like live art that changed throughout the day.
