Columbus Square consists of luxury rental buildings located in the upper west side of Manhattan. The development runs from 97th Street to 100st Street between Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue. It’s a historic area and there are Low-income Housing apartments around the area. Mainly blacks and Hispanics live in these buildings however there’s a slight percentage of whites that live in these buildings. The rest of them are luxury apartments and condos it’s mostly quiet around that area.
You may be wondering how to get to Columbus Square. The trains that are known to that area are the 1,2,3. B and C trains. You can ride the B or C train to 103rd or 96 street for Columbus Ave. For the 2 and 3 train you can ride it to 96 street then catch the 1 train to 103rd for Broadway. Around 96th and Broadway by the 2 and 3 train there are lots of fast-food places such as McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts. There is also Paris Baguette as well. If you walk up Broadway to 103rd street there are a lot of Asian Cuisine restaurants also as well as a Spanish/Peruvian restaurant. Once you turn up the block from Broadway, you’ll find yourself on 100 street and Amsterdam. The area is known for its parks also as well as the large soccer field. This area is kid friendly and it’s available to anyone in the neighborhood. While walking down to Columbus Ave you mostly see the condos and the library on one side while the projects is on the other side. Also, as well as a police station and firehouse next to it. On Columbus Ave it’s slightly a shopping area that’s has a Burlington, TJ Maxx, and a five below. There is also a large whole food and a target on the block if you need to buy groceries. There is also Starbucks, chipotle, baya bar and a burger place for quick food options.
My favorite places to go in Columbus Square is the TJ Maxx and Burlington because it’s across the street from my apartment and it’s very easy and accessible to shop there without going downtown. I also like going in the five below because sometimes I like to look around to see what’s new. It may not sound very exciting to be in this neighborhood, but people are friendly over here and lots of people know each other in this area. Like when I mentioned before it’s a kid friendly neighborhood and a lot of people do their own thing around this area.
