Logo Research
This is research of the Verizon logo that I did. The logo i chose was the Verizon company logo. Verizon is the largest telecommunications service in the US, servicing roughly 135 million subscribers. I chose this logo because of how noticeable it is. The Verizon logo can be seen on billboards and commercials on every channel, so its easy to follow the logo’s evolution through the years. The company was founded in 2000 when GTE and Bell Atlantic merged to form Verizon. The logo has been the same since 2000 with a recent change that made the logo “simple”. The original logo contains the word Verizon in bold font with the Z colored in red, there was a large red check over the entire logo. The font is a modified Helvetica Black typeface. The Z is supposed the be a a spark that fades to the end of the logo. While the red color in the Verizon logo stands for the passion and courage, the black color represents dominance, supremacy and excellence. Verizon just recently changed the logo for the first time in 15 years. The new logo is a very simplistic form of the old one. Its just the Verizon name with a red check after the n. The company has stated that “It’s really supposed to acknowledge its role as being ubiquitous as a kind of brand with a big footprint and one that isn’t trying to add to the visual noise around us.”
