    Dear students,

A reminder to complete the following short readings for tomorrow:

Digital Archives Materials, Purdue OWL: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/988/07/

What are archives and how do they differ from libraries? Society of American Archivists:
    http://www2.archivists.org/usingarchives/whatarearchives

For those of you still having difficulty with the Annotated Bibliography, please read the assignment directions and look over the example on OpenLab (under Assignments). You may also read the following:

    Annotated Bibliography, City Tech Library:

Finally, Prof. Chin informs me that some of you are having difficulty with Map Warper. It’s not clear if you are unable to understand how to rectify a historical map after last week’s visit to the NYPL or if the Map Warper site is not working. I’ve checked the site a few times yesterday and today and see that its up and running fine. Either way, please try again. A rectified map needs to be included in your final portfolio. A number of your fellow students have been able to rectify maps — you can see their work on the discussion board. There’s a tutorial here about the easy process of rectifying a map: NYPL Map Warper: http://maps.nypl.org/warper/

    In solidarity,

    Prof. Swift

I have a question about the final portfolio. Last week we were told by Professor Chin, that we no longer need to have a portfolio for our project. This was mentioned when we were going over the homework for the week. So now I am at a loss on what specifically we should be focusing on in terms of the Portfolio. It was essentially laid out that we are to complete our site report, and for the Wednesday of the 16th, have our 4 page draft for our project.

As well as in terms of Map Warper, the website functions on its own schedule, with a plethora of bugs that make it unusable half of the time, regardless of what computer hardware I am using, which browser I am on, what my DNS settings are, you name it. It was essentially proven that the server hosting map warper does not function, during our visit to the library.

    Thank you for your time.
