New York Public Library Map Warper
The New York Public Library Map Warper is an online tool used to align (or georectify) old maps with today’s map. This supports the Library’s efforts in building new public resources for historical investigation, exploration and discovery.
1. Go to the New York Public Library Map Warper homepage found at maps.nypl.org.
2. In the top right corner, click on Create Account.
You can either create an account (continue to steps 3-5) OR you can sign in to the Map Warper using an existing Github, Twitter, Google, or Facebook account.
3. To create an account: Enter your name, email address, and create a password. Click Sign Up.
4. An email will be sent to the address you provided with a link to activate your account. The link will prompt you to sign in to the Map Warper using the email and password you’ve provided.
5. When you sign in for the first time, you will receive one last email to notify you that your account has been activated.
