Course Description

This independent study is designed to provide the student with an overview of the use of health communication campaigns to promote wellness and reduce risk in a variety of populations, with an emphasis on the critical role of communication theory and practice. This independent study will provide the student with experience of how campaigns are designed, implemented, and evaluated. Topics will include, but are not limited to the history of campaigns, theoretical foundations of campaigns, evidence-based campaign design, campaign effectiveness, risk perceptions, technology and campaigns, and campaigns as educational entertainment.
