Course Description

By learning the ancient arts of grammar, logic, and rhetoric (the Trivium), students of ENG 1101 will deepen their understanding of language and grow in their capacity to relate to the world and others. Through a deep engagement with primary sources tied to the origins of persuasive communication as we know it today (Athens in the 4th century BC) and an innovative, interactive course design, students will grow as logical thinkers and clear and persuasive writers and speakers. While all City Tech students are required to take ENG 1101, those studying computer science and philosophy (grammar and logic) and marketing, design, communications, politics and history (rhetoric) will especially benefit from their time in this course.
