Font: Big Caslon

The font we received was Big Caslon font created by William Caslon in 1720. It is considered old style but published by Matthew Carter in 1994. The font has a serif , the center bars meets the vertical, there are no upward pointing “C” the font shows an ” A” concave hollow at the top left , “G” without a downward pointing spur at the bottom right and the sides of the “M” are straight. The font also has thick and thin strokes. The font resembles an organize structure with resembles handwriting with a pen. The creator William Caslon was infunced by imported dutch baroque types faces which were popular in England. Caslon worked as an engraver of punches, the master of the engravers used to stamp molds to cast metal type. Caslon’s font types various angle slant , sharp slanting on the “A, Q” and lower case “w” .The usage of this font is best used for printing, body text and books.
