Brooklyn Waterfront Research Center

(Online) A Green New Library for Brooklyn: Sustainability & Environmental Education at the Greenpoint Public Library

Join us online for our first Breakfast Talk of the fall semester!

Rocks in the plaza that are glacial outcroppings; a hand pump on the third floor that patrons can use to release rain water from a cistern onto the plants on the second floor rooftop garden…These are just two of the many physical features that make Greenpoint’s new library unique. But the library is also unique in its mission to be a community center of environmental education and environmental justice.

Learn about the unique mission and the unique physical structure of Brooklyn’s newest library and why it is both an important community resource and a “must see” as we begin to venture out again, masked and vaccinated, onto the streets of our Brooklyn waterfront neighborhoods.
