My name is Betty Leonard, a 27 year old student at New York City College of Technology. I was born at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn New York on November 20th 1984. Although I was born in New York I was not raised here, I was raised on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
I left the BVI in the summer of 2009 to attend LaGuardia Community College where I was able to earn my Asociates’ degee in Human Services Mental Health. The place that I grew up is 42 square miles in size which is at least two times smaller than the borough that I was born in. It is small, relatively friendly and peaceful as opposed to New York that is fast paced, hectic and relatively impersonal. My decision to attend college in New York meant that I had to leave behind my home, the family and friends I grew up with and the centre of my world my son. For the most part I have always been a relatively quiet person that has kept to herself, but enjoys helping others whenever I can.
