ARCH1121 HISTORY OF WORLD ARCHITECTURE FA2017
- OpenOpen
A historical survey of architecture from early civilizations to the Industrial revolution. Architecture is understood as an expression of the culture and life of a society. Class sessions consider architecture from around the world within their social, historical and spatial contexts. While the history of Western Architecture is covered from the Egyptians and Mesopotamia to the Enlightment and the Industrial revolution the survey includes reviews of the architectures of the Islamic world, the Far East, South East Asia, Sub-Sahara Africa, pre-Columbian Latin America and elsewhere to provide a comprehensive overview of the richness and diversity and at time surprising similarity of architecture across the globe
