BUF 2400, Product Development in the Fashion Industry, studies each stage of the product development from concept to consumer. Students learn how research is conducted in the fashion industry, and how it reflects in garment design. The course studies consumer behavior, V.A.L.S., trend cycles, social, economic, and political influence on garment production. In teams, students conducted a project, they had the opportunity to create a private label for the entire production process in fashion development. Students researched and identified major fashion trends for their target market, evaluated fabric selection for product performance, and methods for merchandising the private label product/line.
