Week Three – Photo shoot?

Continuing with the City Tech Ad, the outline for the background was done on chalk while the word ‘ED’ was sculpted using chalk. It took almost the whole day to create the background. The material of the chalk made it difficult to draw on the board because it created scratch marks rather than the inking marks. Each line has to be done at least three strokes to create an effective texture on the board. Katherine, who was in charge of sculpting the letters E and D, helped me afterwards.

As this is my first time doing a photo shoot, I was a bit unclear on the process. Yue guided me throughout each way. I’ve learned how to use adjust the intensity on the spotlights as well as using different color filters to achieve the maximum quality for the image. I’ve also learned how tedious the process can be if the lighting was not correct and re-adjusting it will take some time.

At the end, we were happy to get this assignment completed. The outcome was very successful compared to Yue’s past experience with the photo shooting. Yue even took a selfie but I missed the chance to capture that. Instead, I took a picture of him taking a picture of the project.
