Girl with Ballon -London

Banksy, a man not many think of right away when they think of artists. However, he has done so much to push art and graffiti into a new dimension. He is inspirational as he is mysterious. Part of his mystery is his identity, besides how he travels and makes his graffiti without getting caught. I have been fascinated by his artwork for many years and he has inspired my own art style. I take great interest in his use of black and white with minimal colors. When making graffiti this isn’t very common, most graffiti artists use many bright and vivid colors. Art isn’t the only thing Banksy has done, he always gives back to the communities. He is known for making anonymous donations under his infamous name, Banksy.

I love the mystery of not knowing who Banksy is. He could be any gender, sex, race, ethnicity, and honestly, it wouldn’t make a difference to me. I see Banksy as just a human who makes art, merely a person trying to show others what humanity has become. Many of Banksy’s pieces are anti-political or anti-war and even when I don’t agree with them I can see why he made them. I believe Banksy’s work isn’t just something you see but it’s something you feel, empathize with, and internalize. He has traveled most of the world, placing graffiti in every big city he has visited, from New York to London to Jerusalem and he isn’t done yet. I am always waiting patiently to see his next work and the inspiration I will get when I see it.
