English 1101-D362                 Benefits of Video Games

Is video gaming destroying kids all ages daily life?I say playing video games are good for kids all ages. There have been a lot of research that video games have bad influence on kids and how video games have good influence on kids. They say video games creates a aggressive behavior and others say video games help most kids control their behavior. However ,it all depends on what kind of games kids playing that might control their behavior or increase the aggressiveness of their behavior.Video games have benefits good or bad on kids all ages due to academics, violence, and skills.

To begin with, many believe that video games have a bad impact on kids academics.Yes video games have a bad influence on kids academic but its still not the direct cause of kids academic lowering.Kids will sacrifice they time playing video instead of studying for a test or doing homework. In other words kids who perform at a low level academically tend to see video games as an distraction.”When it comes to playing video games it play a big role based on reading academically and thinking academically. When kids play video games frequently, they also tend to get used to the fast past and interactive style of electronic games. This can sometimes mean that other activities, such as reading, can be under-stimulating to them.”(“Do video games lower academic performance?”Education.com.10 April 2015).basically playing video games makes kids get bored when reading because when playing video games its more fun and it stimulate the brain more compare to reading a book.Does video games play a big role on the way how kids think academically?”youths who are heavy gamers end up with “video game brain “in which key parts of the frontal region of their brain become chronically underused ,alerting moods.(Kardaras,Eleni.”The Effect of Video Games on the Brain”biology.Serindip studio.7 jan 2008).This effects the way kids think academically in school such as critical thinking and reasoning to a word problem or a response.

Next, videos games these day in the twenty first-century such as rockstar games and fighting influence violence on kids. However, its not a the major problem of violence but it effects kids slightly.”many psychologist argue that the violent video games socialize children over time, prompting them to imitate the behavior of the game’s character”(Carey, Benedict. “Shooting in the Dark.” The New York Times. The New York Times, 11 Feb. 2013. Web. 11 Apr. 2015.)Video games don’t cause kids to literally do violence but it effects they behavior and way of speaking.”A number of critics claim that video games had a corrupting influence on the youth of the day.Video games were accuse of glorifying violence and encouraging anti-social behavior”(Gunter,

Barrie.Popularity and concern”The Effects of Video Games on Children:The Myth Unmasked.Sheffield Academic press Ltd,1998.15-16.)Most kids that play video games and become addicted to it develop an anti-social behavior which can cause hostility and aggression.I had a chance to observe the effects of video games first hand on two boys, ages eight and ten, when I babysat them earlier in the semester. They were playing the video game “Mario Kart,” which is really not a very violent game;the object is to win a car race by coming first while maneuvering through different courses. When the younger brother won,the older brother got up and started kicking him and yelling insults!.(Kardaras,Eleni.”The Effect of Video Games on the Brain”biology.Serindip studio.7 jan 2008).Video games don’t have to be violent to cause violence it could result in a aggressive behavior if losing in a game such as “Mario Kart”.Another factor video games have kids is the way they speak based on vocabulary. Most Rockstar games like saint row 2,Theft Auto San Andreas, and L.a Noire influence kids to use curses when speaking to others and communicate with others. Also video games cause more kids at an early age to develop an aggressive behavior and change of tone in their language such as bad words.

finally,Video games does not effect kids all ages negatively there are also positive effects on children.Video games effects kids all ages due to reading skills and cognitive skills. Many parents believe video games does not affect kids in a good way. However, video games increase reading skills for kids who  is dyslexic.”12 hours of video games play did more reading skills than normally achieved with a year of spontaneous reading development or demanding traditional reading treatment”.(“Action Video Games Boost Reading Skills,Study of Children with Dyslexia Suggests.

”ScienceDaily.ScienceDaily,28 Feb.2013.Web.12 Apr.2015”).This is the only way and greatest treatment to treat children who is dyslexic.Children without dyslexia is still affected by video games in positive way. Most kids who play video games often develop skills that could help them in the real world or in school.Based on research many kids all ages who plays video games have an increase in their cognitive skills which means they could reason more better and memorizing.Others say video games makes kids more lazy than before and distracted I say not it increases their skills such as cognitive skills.

“New research however, suggests such play actually may strengthen a range of cognitive skills such as spatial navigation, reasoning, memory and perception”.(Nauret,Rick.”Video Games Can Help Boost Social,Memory & Cognitive Skills.”Psych Central News.Nauret PhD/Department of Health, 11 Nov.2013).

Overall,Video games have a great impact on kids and benefits kids all ages academically, skillfully, and doesn’t increase violent action of kids.Any kind of game is good influence on kids even if the game is violent it won’t cause kids all ages to commit a crime or a serious action of violence.Video games is a bad influence on kids?Well I say its not based on my research video games is the benefactor of kids all ages.

English 1101-D362                                  Can I Take a Breath?

Did something or someone prevented you from doing anything, simple things?well something prevented me and that something is called Abnormal breathing.just like father ,just like son,Abnormal breathing runs on my father side of the family from my great grandfather all the way to my dad and now its me.Abnormal breathing is in my blood and I was also born with it.Alot of people thought it was asthma I had but its much worse than asthma. For some reason my father got rid off Abnormal breathing at an early age like 6 years old also his siblings. My father started taking medication at 5 years old and got rid of Abnormal breathing on his 6th birthday.Abnormal breathing can be really difficult due to the effects it have on my life, such  as health issue, first year of school, and my childhood.

First,It all started in my childhood, I was at Chucky Cheese it was my 6th birthday.Me and my friends  headed to the laser tag lobby to strap our gears on and wait for the countdown to go in the laser tag room.I was on the red team others was on the blue team. When the countdown was finish I rush into the laster tag room getting ready to attack the blue team.I saw a blue laser around my area I started to run fast as I can for 6 minutes and find a hiding spot.I started breathing extremely hard and everything around me started to get blurry. For the next 2 minutes I pass out waking up in the hospital not remembering a thing what happened to me.The doctor ask my mom if she have any family members that have asthma. She replied no but my son father had an unnatural breathing she don’t recall the name of  it.She said it not asthma it worse than asthma but he manage to get rid of it at an early age in his childhood.Out of nowhere I started to breathing hard, the doctor call the emergency room,my mom and the doctor put me on the gurney, and I was to rush to emergency. An hour later I woke up in a different room looking around confused. When doctor came back with the result he told my mom I have Abnormal Breathing.

Later,I’m now 13 years old and I have health issue due to Abnormal Breathing. All of those years I have develop a phobia of eating a lot food since thats the only thing I could do.My birthday is going to be tomorrow February 23,2011,everyone in my household knew my birthday was coming and I knew they was going to surprise me.The next day I woke up in the morning and my mom made breakfast for me on my bed singing me happy birthday I was finally 14 years old.Suddenly the phone started ringing,my mom picked up the phone and told me to put my clothes on, she taking me to the hospital.Me and my mom arrived to hospital and was checked in the doctor office immediately, he had some some shocking news for us.He told me that I’m overweight for my age ,I’m at a high chance of getting diabetes and I need to loose weight. Also that theres a new medication that will help control my heart rate while breathing.Me and my mom left the hospital and drove off to home.As my mom was driving we saw a football team in a park.I ask my mom if I join the team. She replied yes and she parked the car.I came out the car and ran to the field to the coach asking if I could join the team. The coach replied yes but I need to complete the 3 month challenge before joining. He gave me the schedule and I ran back to the car with mom.I need to complete the 3 month challenge to join the team.It been 2 months now I was doing the 3 month challenge and there was amazing results.I loss a lot of weight, build more stamina, and felt great about myself for once. The next day I went to the coach and ask him if I could drop out the challenge. He replied yes and told me if I ever change my mind about joining the team you know where to come.I smiled, shook his hand, and left the park.

Finally,My first day of high school I was really nervous and was lost most of the time.Every time the bell ring I would be lost to the next class I looked at my schedule and realized its lunch/recess.When I arrived to the lunchroom to eat at a table a group of older guys and one tall girl surrounded me.They asked if I want to play for the basketball team I replied yes for junior varsity though. They told me after the last bell ring go to the coach office room 212 and get a physical. The last bell rang I rushed to the coach office to get an physical. When I got the physical I looked at it and I know it was going to take a lot steps to complete it.I rush home and ask my mom if she could take me to my doctor to get my physical done.My mom said yes and she told to me to get ready. As me and mom arrived at the hospital we was checked in the nurse room too get my height, weight, blood pressure, and my temperature. The nurse was finished and give me back my physical.Me and my mom went too see the doctor to see what else I need for my physical. The doctor went through our physical and said I need to pass my EKG test then my physical done. When I took the EKG test the result came out on a piece of paper stating that I failed.I was extremely mad and I know I was going to play for the team. The doctor told me don’t be mad by next year you should be able to breath normal. My mom told me don’t be sad because I changed a lot based on my appearances and health.I looked at my mom and smiled.

Abnormal breathing had an impact on my life based on my first year of high school,my childhood, and health issue.Abnormal breathing was a challenge for me I didn’t see myself overcoming it especially when I had to do the 3 month challenge and also to try to loose weight so I could dodge the chance of having diabetes.Even though Abnormal prevented me from a lot of things I’m grateful for my mom being by my side and becoming a different person during these obstacles I went through.Im overall Abnormal breathing could really be difficult and the only way to overcome it is to challenge yourself.
