Caribbean Day
Caribbean Day
The club prepared an elaborate meal and adjunct professor William Moore who did a lecture on Carribean food and culture. HM Student Leah Morgan brought in her daughter dressed in traditional clothes from St Lucia and performed a quadrille dance.

FALL 2013

Cooking For Idiots
Professional comedienne Kathy Cogan, did an interactive cooking (for idiots!) show assisted by our culinary students.

Ice Cream Social
The club described the history of ice cream production and the difference between various forms. HM student Juvert Fetalino made halo-halo while adjunct professor Lina Romansanta described how street food in the Philippines differs from the United States.

SPRING 2013

The Kitchen Feud
Kitchen Feud

The Food and Wine Club presented The Kitchen Feud, a timed cooking competition for seven teams of students. Student chefs were given one hour to execute four plates of an entrée item made from a “mystery basket” of ingredients they did not know the contents of until the hour began. Judging panel included celebrity chef Henry Rivera from Guy’s American Kitchen and Mamie Nishide, television personality and owner of the Japanese Cooking Studio.

Dining Etiquette
The club hosted Prof. Fiona Cameron-Williams who lectured on dining etiquette. The students prepared three hard-to-eat foods (chicken wings, soup, and sandwiches) and the professor went through the steps of how to politely eat these items in a formal setting.

Cambodian Cuisine
The club hosted Prof. Amit Mehrotra, who discussed Cambodian cuisine. The students assisted the professor in creating a Cambodian feast. The students learned about the rise in culinary tourism in the country, as well as traditional spices and cooking methods.
