Today we will be going over the following:
- A general overview of the tools with a focus on:
– Layers
– Pen Tool (Link)
– Brushes (Brush vs. Blob Brush)
– Alignment Tool
– Move Tool
– Free transform/distort (Link)
– Opacity
– Artboards - In class we will be playing around with these tools and getting familiar. We will most likely focus on the pen tool. It’s the more difficult of the tools to wield but once you have a good understanding of it, everything else becomes easier to understand.
- You can practice creating bezier curves with the pen tool with a website game called “The Bezier Game”. I recommend playing it when you have nothing to do. No illustrator required.
- To save an AI file, go to File > Save/Save As. To save as a different file formate, go to File > Export > Export As and then choose your document type in the flyout.
